6 Hair-Care Tips For Your Favorite Dollie

By Dollie & Me on Jul 22, 2014 2:09:00 PM

After hours of play, dollie’s hair needs a refresh so she’s ready for her next play session.

Accessorizing with dollie is about more than just 18-inch doll outfits. Whether the look is a long flowing ponytail or a spunky bunch of twists and braids, one of the best parts of playing with dollie is styling her long flowing locks to accent her clothes.

After hours of play, however, even the best-kept dollie’s hair is likely to go from looking picture-perfect to a tangled mess. Here are six easy tips for transforming your matted doll hair into tresses that are ready for the runway:

  1. Just like your daughter’s hair, dollie’s hair must be cared for regularly. A wire brush with a rubber base is perfect for dollies with straight hair. For curly-haired dolls, a wire pick is a must. Having the right tools is the key to keeping dollie beautiful.

  2. Technique is also important. To brush your dollie’s hair, section the hair as you would when braiding it and begin combing tangles gently from base to root. Make sure to brush gently. Use pins or ponytail holders to keep the hair in sections as you brush. With patience, it’s possible to make even the most unruly hair look like new.

  3. Keep in mind that 18-inch doll hair care is different than caring for human hair. Since human hair produces oils that could damage artificial doll hair, make sure to never use your daughter’s own brush on her dollie’s hair. The same goes for styling products. While your daughter might love her detangling sprays and styling creams, please don't use these product on your dollie.

  4. Playing with dollie is sometimes messy! As your daughter takes dollie on all her summer adventures, you may notice bits of food or other debris sullying her luscious mane. Spot clean dollie’s hair with a soft cloth, and then comb as directed above.

  5. While hairstyling options for dollie are endless, never use heat on your dollie’s hair! Instead, create braids, twists and ponytails when you’re ready for a new look.

  6. Sometimes you need another option. If dollie’s hair resists all of your detangling efforts, consider embracing her unruly mane and adding a cute doll hair accessory instead. This matching set from Dollie & Me is absolutely adorable.

Although Dollie is a low-maintenance toy for kids of all ages, keeping her looking fresh takes some patience. Teach your daughter these hair-care techniques and use dollie’s grooming routine as an opportunity to help her learn patience and responsibility for herself and her dollies. With these simple grooming techniques, your 18-inch doll’s hair is able to last a lifetime.

And doesn’t dollie’s new hairstyle deserve a new outfit, too? Check out the new summer sportswear!
